Don't mess with the V
Welcome! I appreciate you taking the time to visit my page and hear my story. As some of you may know the last few months have completely flipped my world upside down. In November I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. Needless to say the Holidays didn't feel so festive. After Christmas I was thrilled to discover that chemotherapy is not necessary for the time being. It felt so good to get a glimmer of positive news but I know this is a lifelong battle and the future, for me, still feels very unknown. This has been the most challenging, gut-wrenching and emotional journey I have ever been on but the love and support from my family and friends has pushed me through some of my toughest days.
While I feel like I've been through so much already, in some ways it doesn't even compare to the other women across the country who are currently fighting this battle. That's why raising awareness in every way possible means so much to me.
Did you know:
*1 in every 55 women will develop Ovarian Cancer in their lifetime
*PAP tests do NOT detect Ovarian Cancer
*Ovarian Cancer is known as The Silent Killer because symptoms are often subtle. They appear to be routine or common annoyances. Do you know what to look for? Hint: the difference is that they will occur almost every day without resolve. The trouble is that for most women, by the time symptoms are considered an issue, usually the cancer has spread and is too progressed to treat effectively.
Early detection is key and you can help me raise awareness & spread the word by supporting the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation. There are so many ways to fight for the cause! You can join my team, donate (every dollar counts), spread the word about 'The Silent Killer' or cheer us on at the finish line! Can't wait to see you there!!
