Carly Keefer's Fundraising Page
Anyone who knows me knows that my mother is the light of my life. In September of 2015, she was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. After undergoing extensive surgery and chemotherapy she was lucky enough to have a short period termed ‘no evidence of disease.’ Sadly, we learned in May 2017 that her cancer had returned. She again had to go through more rounds of IV chemotherapy, before advancing to her current treatment which involves taking an oral chemo drug 2x per day. My mother inspires everyone around her as she faces each day with courage and strength, but more importantly with a smile on her face.
The statistics for ovarian cancer are scary and I feel compelled to bring awareness to this disease, as it is the fifth leading cause of death among women in the US. On April 27th, my family and I will be participating in the Sandy Sprint hosted by the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer foundation in an effort to raise funds and advance research for this deadly disease.
