For whatever we lose(like a you or a me)
it’s always ourselves we find in the sea
~ e.e. cummings
September 27, 2018 marked 6 years since my mom lost her battle with Ovarian Cancer.
But time is elusive. Because most days, these beachside memories seem like they belong to a different person. Other times, when my toes are in the sand, when the sun hits the water just right, when the breeze flows throws my hair and into my eyes, it seems this picture was taken yesterday.
I want more daughters to bask in that time-warp of love, not be haunted by it. More daughters need to feel like all those wild and wonderful memories were just yesterday, while flipping through photo albums, with their mother sitting next to them.
That's why we participate in this event every year. With the hope and the determination for a future with more moments for women to share with the people who love them.
2018 will cut short the lives of 14,070* women, this we know. We also know that with research, funding, and early-detection advocacy and awareness, we can make more memories for the women that we love.
As sure as the tide rushes in, every day, I will miss her. As infinite as the grains of sand on that Ocean City shoreline, I will remember her. As cyclical as the summer seasons themselves, I will support this life-saving Sandy Sprint event benefitting Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation. I hope you will join me.
Thank you for considering a donation that will change lives.
