This week's Teal Spotlight Team is Till Tomorrow
The Drennan family first heard about the Sandy Sprint in 2009 from Debbie’s oncologist after she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. They formed the team Till Tomorrow which has grown with each passing year. Debbie fought bravely for 9 ½ years. She passed away in September. Her family is continuing the fight that Debbie waged and to draw more people’s attention to ovarian cancer.
Till Tomorrow is made up of the entire family, including the grandchildren, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends from both in and outside of work. Team members come from Maine, Indiana, New York and Connecticut.
Her husband’s Don’s company Travelers Insurance has supported the team through volunteers, local support of the leadership team, company match and raising awareness. They have been a huge financial benefactor of the event. The team uses email and social media to get the word out about ovarian cancer and the Sandy Sprint. They have a Teal Day to raise proceeds too. They are hoping to have over 20 team members this year and even some kids in superhero costumes!
Don says “Debbie firmly believed in the cause of raising awareness about Ovarian Cancer so that other women and other families would not have to endure what she and our children did. She thought that SROCF was the right vehicle to do this and worked tirelessly even when she was very ill this past year and had to be pushed in a wheelchair in order to participate. The name she gave our Team “Till Tomorrow” came from the way she signed her Caring Bridge Blog that she updated everyone with the stories of her fight; it represents the HOPE that women with Ovarian Cancer have to fight on Till Tomorrow and the day after that and the day after that. “
